Krista Martin, MBA, CPCC, PCC, is a sought-after speaker, business strategist, and coach. She helps her clients create a clear plan to attract more clients, make more money, and create a much bigger impact through their business. Most coach training programs teach how to be great at coaching but they don’t teach the necessary mindsets, skill sets, and strategies that are required for business success. That’s where Krista comes in. She leverages her coach training along with her corporate and sales experience to help her clients create real results, quickly.

Her Six Figure Impact® supports homeless animals, with an ultimate goal of closing down animal shelters because of no longer having a need for them. Through population control, education, and other ongoing efforts, her company’s mission is for all animals and their humans to live together in happy, healthy homes.

It’s zero fun to know how to coach but not have enough clients to work with. (Plus, it makes your business feel more like a hobby.) And, as you know, a successful coaching business isn’t built by hope, luck, or chance.

A Note From Your ICF-North Texas DEIB Committee

ICF’s vision is to make coaching an integral part of a thriving society, and to make that happen, it is important to give coaches the ability and support to thrive. Each day we are working toward creating a more diverse, equitable, inclusive coaching profession—and a sense of belonging for all professional coaches and clients. And for our chapter, we bring that vision to North Texas. In addition to our DEIB committee focusing on building this approach into our culture, this coming year we will add a new officer to our board to lead this effort. Remember, our chapter is on a learning journey. We invite you to share ANY comments, reflections, or resources with a member of the DEIB committee as we continue working at past-pres@icf-nt.com. Thank you!

As part of our commitment to DEIJB within our chapter and our broader community, we would appreciate your participation in a one-minute demographic survey. Please scan the QR code to take the survey. The survey will be open through June 12, 2023. Please note that your responses will remain confidential.

Thank you in advance!

Celebrate Coaching - September 8, 2023

We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker for Celebrate Coaching 2023: Debjani Biswas, CEO and Founder of Coachieve, LLC. Debjani is a PCC Certified Coach, speaker and author of several books on the topic of Diversity and Inclusion. Not only did Debjani serve on the ICF-North Texas Board many years ago, she also was a former coach for BNSF in their Internal Coaching program. She is a two-time TEDx speaker and NAPW “Woman of the Year.” Debjani Biswas applies her unique background of engineering, diversity, and strategy to ask: "What is the business impact of inclusion at work?" Ms. Biswas' powerful and life-changing keynotes resonate across boundaries of space and function at large corporate events, conferences, and universities. Biswas was in the news recently for multiple radio interviews, leveraging her expertise in equity, diversity, and inclusion. She was designated as one of the top Influential Women Leaders of the Year 2021!

We are also excited to announce our second hour presentation by UTSW that will showcase a panel of coaches and executives from UTSW who started an Internal Coaching program last year and will be sharing their experience getting that started and where they are today.

This is a must attend event so please save the date and join us in September!

Volunteers Wanted for Bylaws Update Workgroup

Do you have an eye for detail? Have a talent for proof-reading documents? Interested in getting involved with a short-term (six months) volunteer opportunity? Our new Bylaws Update Workgroup is for you. ICF Global requires every chapter to review its bylaws to align with Global's template before the end of 2023, making this a relatively short project. Our chapter's bylaws are well crafted and current, so we will use this as an opportunity for a new review and update as needed. If this short volunteer project appeals to you, please contact Tim Kincaid at past-pres@icf-nt.com, or Sue Shibley at secretary@icf-nt.com.

Member Snapshot - Rory Brannum, ACC

This month we are pleased to introduce Rory Brannum and his business: Coaching By Rory. We enjoy featuring our chapter members as another way for you to get to know each other. Our chapter members cover an incredible breadth of professional coaching and related work, and our connectedness with each other is a great benefit to being a member of our North Texas ICF chapter.

Credentials and training: Rory Brannum is an ACC-credentialed coach as well as being a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. He is currently working toward achieving his PCC credential. Rory shared that he received his training in life and leadership coaching from the Professional Christian Coaching Institute and through the Gallup Global Strengths Coach training from the Gallup Organization.
Why coaching? “I have always enjoyed walking alongside people who are facing big challenges in life. When I was younger, I spent several years in the Middle East working with Iranian refugees who were fleeing persecution in their home country. I recall so many heartbreaking conversations,” Rory shared. “And yet, I felt that it brought out the best in me as I listened and helped them navigate the life-altering questions they were facing. I couldn’t provide the answers they wanted, such as a passport or a visa to some other place, but I discovered that simply being on that part of the journey with them made a profound difference.” Rory came to know years later, there actually is a profession doing what came so naturally to him—professional coaching! “I realized that this role truly checks all the boxes for me, and with training around the ICF Core Competencies I have become better at the things I love most about coaching such as asking better questions, listening, and journeying with clients as they face new challenges.”

Who are your clients? “While most of my clients have tended to be leaders in the second half of life, I have not chosen a single coaching niche, Rory explained. “I provide leadership development, personal or life, small business/entrepreneurial coaching. With any of those, I provide strengths-based coaching that resonates with my clients and motivates them to lean into who they want to become with their strengths.”

There was this one time... Rory loves those moments when we actually see ‘the light come on’ for a client—a moment of true insight. He reflected on one that he enjoyed: “I was coaching a founder around her decision to sell or not sell her business. She was only exploring the potential regrets of selling and as I was able to delve into some additional discovery with her, it opened a ‘new world’ of thinking for her making her decision clear.”

Why ICF North Texas? “The Chapter provides a priceless opportunity to connect with other coaches at all levels of professional experience,” Rory said. “And I love that it is an encouraging place to network, refer, learn, and contribute. I currently volunteer on the ICF-North Texas Membership Team. I was part of the ACC LINC group when I was working on my credential, and the Business Building LINC group for the opportunity to learn and share ways to grow our coaching businesses.” As you will often hear from others, Rory says he continuously benefit from the monthly webinars and the educational content of the monthly chapter meetings.

Rory takes his strengths wherever he goes!

Here's a guy who clearly knows how to keep momentum going!

We Value Our Volunteers

Our award-winning chapter is successful and works so well because of our volunteers. Volunteering increases the value of ICF membership in so many ways. Sharing your time and talents as a volunteer helps us expand the impact of professional coaching throughout North Texas and beyond.

Volunteers benefit, too. Volunteering can help you build your network and grow your coaching practice. Serving on a committee is a great way (for new members, especially) to get involved and meet other professional coaches who are potential collaboration partners, allies, source of referrals, and friendship.
