Beyond the Individual: A Guide to Effective Group Coaching

presented by:
Toni Taylor, PCC

Toni Taylor received her International Coaching Federation PCC in 2016. Toni’s  mission is to provide leadership and care coaching for individuals, groups and teams to reach their goals and maximize their potential for success. During Covid, Toni deepened her learning in the areas of positive psychology, mental health and the importance of gratitude and mindfulness in leadership self-care. Over the past year, Toni has been the champion for DEIB in the local ICF chapter and has obtained a certificate for Inclusive Leadership: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.

Toni’s coach school training provided rigorous coursework for team and group coaching. With this knowledge Toni developed a team coaching practice for over 10 years. This long-term experience in team coaching led to her selection by ICF to volunteer on the development and calibration of the new Advanced Team Coaching exam for the new credentialing.

Years of team coaching led Toni into group coaching as she expanded her coaching practice. Lessons from over ten years of group coaching confirms the coaching benefits of both the group and the individuals to meet their goals. Toni specializes in group coaching with clergy in the area of self-care and leadership across the state of SC. She also provides training and facilitates workshops on clergy self-care.

Toni was trained by Dr. Victoria Bernhardt in vision, mission, strategic planning and data analysis for K-16 education. This training and experience equipped her to provide visioning and strategic planning for non-profits, focused on building relationships, developing trust and provide accountability for teams using resources such as “Five Dysfunctions of a Team,” “The Speed of Trust” and “Start with Why.”

Toni is a National facilitator for Narrative 4, an international organization which provides groups of students and adults the opportunity to experience empathy through story. Story is a powerful tool for building relationships and developing trust in any group or organization. She uses story in her work with DEIB to break down barriers and build understanding across differences. Toni is a Better Up coach focusing on leadership and care internationally. Coaching Pathway, LLC, was founded in 2008 as a practice devoted to building and developing teams, groups and individuals. Toni invested pro bono time coaching families out of poverty as an Ambassador for Circles USA prior to Covid. She continues to provide pro bono coaching for individuals who lose their jobs in the post Covid world.

This year, Toni is Past President of ICF Charlotte Area Chapter, and is serving her fifth year on the ICF Charlotte board. She is the coauthor of a book, “Walk with Me” published in December, 2021. Her hobbies include hiking, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, creating glass mosaics and spending time outdoors with family and friends. Toni is married to Rev. David Taylor, who serves as Senior pastor at Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Together David and Toni have five sons, seven grandchildren, a dog named Soccer and a cat named Ringo.

Webinar Outcomes:
The benefits of exploring group coaching include:

Group coaching brings together individuals with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This diversity can enrich discussions and provide varied insights, leading to deeper learning and growth.

Group coaching provides a supportive community where members can share challenges, successes, and resources. This sense of camaraderie can foster motivation, accountability, and a feeling of belonging.

Participants in group coaching can learn from each other's experiences and expertise. This collective wisdom can offer valuable perspectives and innovative solutions to common problems.

Group coaching typically costs less per participant compared to individual coaching sessions. This makes coaching more accessible to a broader range of individuals and organizations.
