The Impact of a Coaching Culture on Change Initiatives

presented by Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC, and 2019 Global Board Vice Chair

Our June 25 Webinar features Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC, and Vice Chair of the 2019 ICF Global Board. Sara is a long-time coach from Fort Worth, Texas. Sara began her coaching journey at IBM. During her nearly 30 years there, she taught coaching skills and served as a group and executive coach. When she left IBM, she formed Smith Leadership and has been a coach and transformational consultant for global businesses, universities and non-profit organizations since. In nearly 20 years as a coach, she has honed her skills in organization effectiveness, emotional intelligent and the neuroscience of leadership. She works primarily with executives and delights in being in the “ah-ha” business.

Sara has been a member of the ICF since 2001 and became a member and volunteer in the ICF North Texas chapter in 2006. She was the founding leader of the ICF Southeast Region and served as its co-leader for 6 years. Sara was elected to the ICF Global Board of Directors in 2017 and currently serves as Vice Chair.

Sara earned bachelor and master degrees from Texas Christian University and became a Master Certified Coach (MCC) in 2010. She is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Coaches Training Institute and completed the Teleos Leadership Executive Coaching program, Neuroscience, Consciousness and Transformational Coaching through BeAboveLeadership and Organizational and Relationship Systems Coaching through CRR Global.

Sara has been an adjunct professor with the SMU Cox School of Business MBA program and taught the fundamentals of emotional intelligence to doctoral students at two seminaries. She has also worked with Division 1 college athletic coaches in the US and is author of Coach to Coach—Emotional Intelligence and Leadership for Winning Coaches.

Webinar Description:

Coaches who work in organizations often ask for the numbers to prove the value of coaching. What they should also ask is, “how do you help a client get there?” Sara will be answering those questions and guiding participants in how to engage clients (and potential clients) in these important questions.

Sara will present a summary of the 2018 ICF/HCI (Human Capital Institute) study results for executives. The presentation you will hear is designed to help ICF members sell the value of coaching to clients and HR organizations. This presentation, the speaker notes and the study itself give ICF coaches what they need to deliver a compelling business case to for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. This is a tool to help ICF Coaches differentiate themselves from those who call themselves coaches.

Webinar Objectives:
  • The quantitative and qualitative value of coaching cultures in change initiative.
  • What are the measurable elements that make a coaching culture in an organization
  • Where to find the resources to help your client understand coaching, learn the value of the ICF coaches and find best practices in stories of successful organizations
