February 9 Hybrid Chapter Meeting and Program
Story Design: A Foundationally Human Approach to Coaching
Rance Greene

11:15 AM – 1:15 PM

In Person at Las Colinas Country Club, 4400 N O’Connor Road, Irving, TX 75061

Or Virtually Via Zoom

In-Person Attendees: Members–$50 / Non-Members–$60
Virtual Attendees: Members – $30 / Non-Members - $40

Rance Greene formed needastory.com and the School of Story Design (schoolofstorydesign.com) for those who struggle with storytelling at work. His methodology—Story Design—gives leaders and talent development professionals a systematic and creative way for discovering who their audience is and how to persuade them to take action on new ideas. He helps leadership teams, entrepreneurs and coaches discover that they are uniquely equipped to tell the best story for their audiences. Rance is the author of Instructional Story Design, a practical guide for developing stories that train. He coaches, teaches, speaks, and writes often on the benefits of stories to connect people to one another. Rance will join us virtually for this program.
We’ve all been told that the best communicators are good at storytelling. Neuroscience affirms this assertion, but very little instruction is available to those who want to actually do it well. As coaches, we are constantly communicating with our clients and potential clients. Learn the simple and creative process of Story Design to prepare for these conversations. Take your messaging to the story level. And learn some bonus tips on how to coach your executive clients to do the same.

Space is filling fast for the 2024 All Texas Retreat and Conference, March 21 - 24, in New Braunfels, Texas. This event is hosted each March by the Texas Coaches Coalition, to spark collaboration between coaches with a variety of experience and specialties. The conference is a must-attend event for all coaches who are interested in growing, learning, and connecting with other passionate and like-minded professional coaches from across the state of Texas, and beyond.

Communications Committee Volunteers

A huge Thank You to Jane Koenecke for serving on the Communications Committee for the past four years. Jane served as Communications Director for the first two years and spent the last two years as a committee volunteer coordinating the monthly newsletter and monthly Member Snapshots. Jane has thoughtfully and generously continued to offer her time to help transition her work to the 2024 Communications Committee and will remain on the committee to assist.

For the new year, we’d like to welcome Lisa Seay and Norma Martinez to the committee. Both Lisa and Norma are previous Communications Director Board Members. Lisa will be managing the monthly newsletter and Norma will be responsible for introducing our members through the Member Snapshots. Thank you, Lisa and Norma!

The Communications Committee still has space to welcome new volunteers. We could particularly use assistance with ideas, communications plans, and content for special events. Contribute your skills and talents to the Communications Committee by contacting Lisa Yarbough at communications@icf-nt.com.

Member Snapshot - Dr. Nancy McGruder

Our Member Snapshot is an ongoing glimpse of your fellow members, giving you a great network of resources available to you and reminding you why it is so valuable to belong to ICF-North Texas.  This month our feature member is Dr. Nancy McGruder.

Dr. Nancy McGruder has been a member of ICF-North Texas since 2022 and has served as a committee member of the Alliance Committee.

Why coaching? I gravitate to coaching because this work gives individuals the ability to be their best. It’s not therapy, so I’m not working on trauma from childhood. My view as a professional is that coaching works and puts people in control of what they want to do, where they want to go, how they want to be. Getting to that new point by yourself can be difficult.

I’ve been in education my entire career and have watched people working to move to a new place by doing the same things in the same way that they have always done. It’s in my spirit to ask questions, not to challenge, but to help others uncover the answers they seek.
My business(s): My business efforts are focused in two areas: NMc Coaching & Consulting and Build Your Board of Directors (BYBOD).

NMc Coaching & Consulting is my core business where I focus on coaching, teaching, and mentoring others. Offerings include Career, Corporate/Executive, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership Development, Small Business/Entrepreneur, and Team/Group coaching. I see my niche or target area as Leadership Development in all aspects of these offerings.

I just launched my 501C(3) Build Your Board of Directors (BYBOD). BYBOD fosters the success of Women of Color (WoC) by empowering, educating, and supporting women of color in having and maintaining a personal board of directors. Our vision at BYBOD is a world where the success of WoC is rooted in honoring and respecting women of color for their inherent worth and the immense value they bring to every sphere. Participants are engaged with a personal board of directors who are comprised of trusted advisors, mentors, coaches, and champions. This board of directors provides invaluable insights, helps broaden perspectives, expands networks, equips you to make well-informed decisions, and supports goal setting and achievement. Reach out to me if you have genuine interest in learning more about BYBOD.

Expertise and credentials: I earned my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University in 2016. I also hold degrees in Foundations of Education from Troy University, and Higher Education and Management from Dallas Baptist University. In addition, I have a Brain-Based Coaching Certificate (BBCC) from the NeuroLeadership Institute.

Why ICF-North Texas? I was looking to join a community that would continue to support my growth and development as a coach as well as a place where I could contribute.

My current focus is to obtain my ACC from the International Coaching Federation and I am an active member of the ICF-North Texas ACC LINC group. I chose this group to help support me in the pursuit of ACC as well as a place to build community.

What else can you share? I enjoy the challenge and results of working out several times per week.

        Reeshemah Davis
Thank You, Reeshemah Davis
Tim Kincaid (Past-President) and Sue Shibley (Secretary) want to thank Reeshemah Davis for volunteering to assist us in updating our ICF-North Texas Bylaws. We are mandated by ICF-Global to update our Bylaws every three years. The three of us met over the course of three months to update the Bylaws to meet the new ICF-Global framework, the ICF-North Texas DEIB mission, and current processes of operation.
