The Future of Coaching—It’s Ours to Create

By Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC, and Vice Chair, ICF Global Board

Our April 12 luncheon program features Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC. Sara is a long-time coach from Fort Worth, Texas. After working for IBM for nearly 30 years—seven years as an internal coach, she now has her own coaching firm, Smith Leadership. In nearly 20 years as a coach, she has honed her skills in organization effectiveness, emotional intelligent and the neuroscience of leadership. She works primarily with executives and delights in being in “ah-ha” business.

Sara has been a member of the ICF since 2001 and became a member and volunteer in the ICF North Texas chapter in 2006. She was the founding leader of the ICF Southeast Region and served as its co-leader for six years. She has been an ICF assessor and mentor. Sara was elected to the ICF Global Board of Directors in 2017 and serves as Vice Chair.

Sara earned bachelor and master degrees from Texas Christian University and became a Master Certified Coach (MCC) in 2010. She is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Coaches Training Institute. Sara has been an adjunct professor with the SMU Cox School of Business MBA program and also taught the fundamentals of emotional intelligence to doctoral students at two seminaries.  She has also worked with Division 1 college athletic coaches in the US and is author of Coach to Coach – Emotional Intelligence and Leadership for Winning Coaches

Program Description:

Sara will present the future of coaching and the work that ICF is doing to create that future. We will talk about what the ICF is working on to increase the visibility and understanding of coaching to the organizations across the globe. You will hear how credentialing, ethics and ICF-sponsored research help create more opportunities for us all. Find out how you can take advantage of the many ways membership offers value to you and your coaching practice. We will discuss the value of being a contributor to the success of the ICF, not just a consumer of services. There will be an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the ICF
