July 10 ICF North Texas Coaches Luncheon Program Building a Coaching Culture: What works and What Doesn’t Work By William M. Behrendt, PhD, PCC Our July 10 luncheon features William M. Behrendt, PhD, PCC. Dr. Behrendt is Vice President for Human Resources at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he is responsible for all “people” issues at the Medical School and its University Hospitals and Clinics. In 2012, Dr. Behrendt accepted the ICF North Texas Chapter PRISM Award for integrating coaching as part of the UT Southwestern Leadership Development Program. Program Description: The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas has been on a 10 year journey to develop leaders as coaches. As part of that evolution, UT Southwestern has created a cadre of internal coaches and external coaches. Learn how an organization of “elite professionals” is evolving from an Individual Contributor culture to one more focused on coaching for development, and what a “coaching culture” is composed of. Hear success stories as well as challenges, and how those challenges were addressed. Participants will be asked to share their own stories about both “what works and what doesn’t work” in creating a coaching culture. Program Outcomes: • Learn how to build a coaching culture by gaining sponsorship and addressing challenges. • Discover ways to develop an internal coaching practice. • Explore how to apply these lessons to your own practice or organization.
